A look into Lee Wescott’s kitchen
Typing Room, Town Hall Hotel, London
I have been looking forward to try Lee Wescott’s food since I saw the episode in Great British Menu. There was something about his dishes that was intriguing and inventive. My clever boyfriend remembered how excited I was with the cauliflower dish that surprised me and took me to Typing Room for my birthday.
We opted for the 7 course meal because we’re too greedy and I don’t regret our choice!
Right from the start everything was presented beautifully and it tasted fantastic, I would be surprised if Typing Room doesn’t get a Michelin star soon.
The snacks were crispy smocked cod with oyster and dill emulsion
Beef tendon, smoked turbot roe and leek ash
Pig trotter with bacon and brown sauce jam
and all this was before we even started on our 7 course meal.
The tasting menu was celeriac, pear, fermented mushrooms & hazelnut
Crab, cucumber, kombu & lime
Yeasted cauliflower, raisins, capers & mint
Turbot, white asparagus, curry & pine
Suckling pig, turnip, apple & anchovy
Sheep’s yogurt, apple & dill
So there it is my first restaurant recommendation! http://www.typingroom.com
I have also discovered that some of the tableware was done by an artist based in Cornwall. If you like pottery make sure you have a look at her workshop, the gallery is absolutely beautiful. http://www.moderncraftworkshop.com/gallery/
